Heart and Gut Brain Centers
Science has also uncovered that there is a very specific neuronal network in the heart space and in the Gut. The heart has a network of 40,0000 neurons called "sensory neurites". As we attune these neurons with our brain neurons we create more coherence between the two. We are able to have the heart and brain communicate allowing us to make more informed, compassionate, and better decisions.
The gut, or gastrointestinal (GI) tract, contains a complex network of neurons called the enteric nervous system (ENS). They are affected by our diet, health of our gut biome, thus making a direct link between what we eat and the state of our upper brain functioning, emotional state, awareness, and so on.
These 3 centers are widely recognized by all the ancient traditions. Each would use a different name for them but they all point to other areas within the human body holding energetic importance. These are the 3 Dantians commonly known by the Taoist tradition for instance.
